When is the Kentucky football game against Auburn?

The Kentucky Wildcats have drawn another nightcap kickoff against the Auburn Tigers at 7:45 p.m. EST on the SEC Network, making their third straight start. This game is often reserved for fun matchups, but not great matchups. With Kentucky losing a game to Vanderbilt and Auburn at the bottom of the standings in the SEC, this seemed inevitable.

The Kentucky football program took on Vanderbilt in its final game at 7:45 p.m. EST on SEC Network. The next game is at 7:45 p.m. EST on SEC Network against the Florida Gators, and that game will now be at the same time. Are we noticing a theme? Kentucky has apparently been locked into that time slot by the SEC, which means another night game and a late night at Kroger Field.

WHO: Auburn University
Where: Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky (home)
When: October 26 at 7:45 pm EST
TV: SEC Network

I mentioned it last week when the Florida game was announced that Kentucky needs to start winning if it wants to get to one of these premier matchups in the middle of the day. That didn’t happen as they played the Commodores in a game riddled with mistakes and frustrating moments.

There’s a good chance they won’t face the same fate or time frame in their as-yet-unannounced Nov. 2 game against the Tennessee Volunteers. Of course, since it’s a rivalry game, it’s going to draw more attention, and the SEC and ESPN are going to want to put it in a slot that gets them more exposure.

Kentucky looks to bounce back this week against Florida, but they have to get it done on the road in the swamp against a dynamic true freshman quarterback, DJ Lagway. This will be Lagway’s first start, but he has performed well in the few reps he has had this season.
