NIS America has released a free Ys X demo for Steam Next Fest

If you like RPGs with real-time action, big boats, and anime, you should probably check out the free new Ys X demo. The publication of the Ys

Keep in mind that, like NIS America’s demos for other Ys games, the progression in Ys is the introduction so you get a solid understanding of what to expect.

The demo contains a good portion of what sets Ys X apart from adventurer Adol Christin’s previous outings. For one thing, this time it’s just him and a single ally named Karja, instead of about half a dozen allies accompanying him like in Ys IX. Developer Nihon Falcom reimagined Ys’ combat system based on the idea of collaboration, with Adol and Karja each having different strengths. If you play your cards right, you can perform powerful duo moves and crush even tough opponents.

You can also get behind the wheel of a ship and take part in one of Ys X’s many ocean exploration sections. Adol and his crew of devoted followers take on ships piloted by undead forces called Griegr, and if they manage to achieve a victory, the next land-based dungeon exploration becomes a little easier. The demo ends with a boss fight against one of the larger, more dangerous Griegr, where skillful use of Adol and Karja’s abilities is essential if you want to make it through alive.

Ys X will be released on October 25, 2024 for PS5, PS4, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store as well as Nintendo Switch.
