Schools are on soft lockdown after an incident during the Allendale-Fairfax football game

ALLENDALE, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – After an incident Friday at an Allendale County football game, school officials are implementing a soft lockdown protocol throughout the week starting Monday as a precautionary measure.

School officials said in an Oct. 13 statement that the decision was made out of an abundance of caution. However, to prevent further conflict and to ensure a calm and structured environment, the following measures will be taken.

1. Restricted building access:

Only the marked entrances are used for entry and exit; all other doors remain locked during school hours. Visitors are not allowed to enter the building without prior appointment. There will be no early cancellation of students tomorrow.

2. Increased supervision:

Additional staff will monitor hallways, common areas and transition times to ensure student safety.

3. Staggered Schedules: To minimize student interaction between different grade levels, we will implement staggered schedules for grade transitions and lunch breaks.

4. Classroom Safety: Hallway passageways will be limited to prevent unnecessary student movement.

Thank you for your cooperation as safety remains our top priority.

Parents, please talk to your children so they understand the importance of following our new rules. We value your cooperation, without it we cannot be successful. We must work together to stop this problem.

Allendale-Fairfax was forced to forfeit Friday’s game against Ridgeland following a violent incident.

Following the incident, the school district issued a statement in a Facebook post.

Back in September, a Friday night football game between Hampton County High School and Allendale High School was postponed after several fights occurred during the game.
