Baker Mayfield reacts to Texas players placing a flag on his Oklahoma jersey

To anyone targeting Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield: Be careful – he won’t go easy on you, especially when it comes to his Oklahoma Sooners.

Mayfield won a Heisman Trophy during his time with the Oklahoma Sooners from 2014 to 2017, and although he hasn’t played for the Sooners since 2017, his name came up again during the team’s famous Red River Rivalry against Texas. Texas, the No. 1 team in the country, beat Oklahoma 34-3, and afterward Longhorns players placed a flag in the middle of the field through a Baker Mayfield Sooners jersey, a nod to its own flag display at midfield against Ohio State before.

It was very strange that Mayfield caught some walkers on Saturday even though he hadn’t played college football in seven years, so of course he was asked about it. And of course, he had a great reaction to Texas’ stunt.

“Just a kid from Austin, Texas, who went to Oklahoma, won his last two Red River games and has been rent free in his head for almost a decade,” Mayfield told the media after Tampa Bay’s win over New Orleans. “So, yeah, it’s a good feeling.”

It was the second good feeling Mayfield had of the day after beating the New Orleans Saints 4-2 on the road. Mayfield leads the NFL in touchdowns, and he’s certainly showing off his Oklahoma self as the Bucs continue with a winning record.
