Army, Memphis, North Texas receive weekly football honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors beginning in Week 7 of the 2024 season.

Offensive Player of the Week
Bryson Daily • Sr. • QB • Army

Daily scored five touchdowns as Army extended the nation’s longest active winning streak to 10 games with a 44-10 win over UAB. He rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries and completed three of seven passes for 102 yards and a TD before being ejected early in the third quarter. Daily, who recorded his fifth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards, ranks eighth nationally with 123.0 yards per game and is third among FBS players with 14 rushing touchdowns.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chandler Martin • Jr. • LB • Memphis

Martin led a Memphis defense that limited South Florida to 24 rushing yards, 258 total yards and three scores in a 21-3 win. Martin had seven tackles to go, a sack, a pass breakup, a quarterback rush and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to clinch the game. Martin leads The American with 4.0 sacks, 9.0 tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries in 2024.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kali Nguma • RFr. • K • North Texas

Nguma scored 11 points, including two key field goals, to lead North Texas to a 41-37 win in the rain at Florida Atlantic. Nguma’s 46-yard field goal in the second quarter brought the Mean Green within 17-17 before he scored on a 40-yard attempt late in the third quarter to bring North Texas within seven points in the final period. Nguma leads all American Athletic Conference kickers in scoring and is fourth among all players with 8.8 points per game entering Week 8.

HONORABLE MENTION
Casey Larkin • Jr. • S • Army

Had two interceptions and two tackles in a 44-10 win over UAB.

Jayden Hill • Sr. • DB • North Texas

Had a game-high eight tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack, an interception and a pass breakup in a 41-37 win at Florida Atlantic.

DT Sheffield • Jr. • WR • North Texas

Had a career-high 11 receptions for 126 yards and two late touchdowns in a 41-37 win at Florida Atlantic.

Sean Fresch • Sr. • CB • Rice

Had a career-best 11 tackles with a pass breakup and a reception for 40 yards in a 29-27 win over UTSA.

EJ Warner • Jr. • QB • Rice

Completed 25 of 39 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner with four seconds left, in a 29-27 win over UTSA.
