Wanted man reported shooting in Mineral County

UPDATE: 8:30 p.m. – October 13, 2024

The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office reports that a black 2023 Kia Forte wanted in connection with a Sunday shooting in Saltese has been recovered. However, the suspect remains at large.

The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office is asking area residents to keep their doors locked as the search for Willie Joe Richardson continues. He was last seen wearing black sweatpants and is now believed to be walking.

The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to avoid the Chard area at Saltese and Silver Creek Road while crime scenes are processed by law enforcement.

Anyone who sees Richardson should not approach him and call 911.

A reported shooting in the Saltese area is under investigation.

The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect who fled the scene in a black 2023 Kia Forte. The vehicle may have Washington license plate CQW2610.

The suspect is believed to be an African-American man wearing black sweatpants. Anyone who sees the suspect should contact 9-1-1 immediately.

Residents are asked to stay indoors and lock their doors.
