After record heat and cold fronts over the weekend, fall is coming to North Texas

After a weekend of near-record October heat, North Texas is finally getting a taste of fall.

The region will see the first of two cold fronts today, but how long will the cooler temperatures last? Not for long – but a second cooling is expected soon.

The first cold front arrives on Monday and temperatures drop to below 80°C. Things will turn hot again on Tuesday, however, as strong winds push hot air into the area and push temperatures into the low to mid 90s.

The second cold front moves in on Tuesday night and ensures more lasting autumn weather. Wednesday will see highs in the upper 60s, with extremely dry air and dew points falling into the 30s. Expect the coldest night of the season so far with lows in the 40s.

Sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s return Thursday and are expected to continue for the rest of the week.

While the heat will be a brief respite on Tuesday, North Texans can expect it to finally feel like fall starting Wednesday.
