DIVE INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP OF MUSIC VIDEOS: CLIPPED MUSIC VIDEO FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2024 PROGRAM

Australia’s only music video festival, CLIPPED Video Music Festivalis back with its first full program since 2019 and takes place at Ritz Cinemas, Randwick To Sunday, October 27th.

Celebrating the art of music videos, the festival features a jam-packed program including an awards ceremony, exclusive premieres, industry panels and an intimate “In Conversation” session with internationally acclaimed directors Shane Drakewho has directed over 150 music videos for artists such as Avril Lavigne, Panic! At the disco, Paramore, Timbaland, Flo Rida And Keith Urban.

Tickets for each session are just $20, allowing attendees to create their own festival experience by selecting individual sessions.

The festival starts with one Stories on the screena showcase of exceptional narrative music videos from talented Australian filmmakers. The Directors Discussion Panel will then have a casual dialogue with some of Australia’s top music video directors including Sanjay De Silva (DIVISION), Michael Hili (FINCH), AGAINSTAnd Felicity Jayn Heath (The Reserve). Her work includes global collaborations with artists such as Sampa the Great, The murderers, Flume, genesis Owusu, Clara fable and many more. Attendees can expect insights into the state of the industry and the creative process behind some of the country’s most visually stunning music videos.

Then festival director Samuel Bright will lead an exclusive event In conversation with director and filmmaker Shane Drake to explore the work and vision spanning his illustrious 20-year career. His filmography includes a diverse range of music videos, commercials and feature films, including collaborations with Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Kelly Clarkson and Keith Urban. His direction won Video of the Year at the MTV VMAs for “Panic!” At “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” at the Disco, he demonstrates his versatility with his advertising and branding work with clients such as Ford, Google, Snickers, American Idol and The Voice.

The afternoon session of CUT Music Video Premieres presents unpublished Australian work. Audiences will first see new clips from groundbreaking local artists on the big screen, followed by conversations with the creators. Highlights include the anticipated release of Hermitude’s Queenstown, directed by Kalani Gacon and produced by Mountain of Youth, a filmmaker mentoring organization based in the Blue Mountains.

When the sun sets, the festival reaches its climax CUT Music Video Awardswhere the 30 best Australian music videos of the year are shown in full cinematic glory. As well as recognizing the best international and New Zealand clips, the Australian awards also include categories such as Best Video, Director, Cinematography, Colour, Editing, Animation and Art Direction. With awards from Panavision, RED Digital Cinema, Angelbird, ZOOM, GEAR HAUS and Crayon, it will be an evening of celebration, creative recognition and unparalleled networking opportunities, topped off with a lively party to keep the energy going.

Each session is priced at $20, allowing participants to create their own experience. Tickets can be purchased for individual sessions including Stories On Screen (10:00 a.m.), Directors’ Panel (12:00 p.m.), In Conversation with Shane Drake (2:00 p.m.), Music Video Premieres (4:00 p.m.), and the awards ceremony (6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.).
