Final result
Johann Chua 13-7 Ko Pin Yi

The nervousness was evident from the start as both Ko Pin Yi and Johann Chua struggled to find their rhythm. Although he missed the 3-ball and 7-ball early, Ko returned the favor with a crucial safety and secured the first game.

After a rocky start, Chua quickly found his form in the second round and took control after Ko left the 6-ball hanging and made a simple sweep. This ignited Chua’s momentum, and “Bad Koi” proceeded to string together four consecutive attacks, showcasing his sharp safety game and precise jump shots.

A dry break in the sixth game allowed Ko to return to the table, where he cut Chua’s lead with a 1-9 combination. Ko then tried to keep the pressure on by hitting Chua with the 5-ball, but Chua responded with a fierce jump shot, regaining control and extending his lead to 7-2.

Things changed in the tenth game when Chua hooked the 2-ball, giving Ko a chance to win two games in a row. However, Ko’s attempt to close the gap failed in the 12th play when he scratched the 3-ball, giving Chua another play.

A missed 2-ball in the thirteenth game seemed to turn the tide in Ko’s favor as he further reduced the deficit, hitting a 3-9 combination to bring the score to 8-7. Just one shot away from equalizing, Ko fouled the 2-ball in the next game, giving Chua breathing room to extend his lead to 9-7.

Although Ko tried to close the gap again after Chua missed the 6-ball, he missed a crucial 9-ball that could have put him back in contention. Chua capitalized, reaching the mound 10-7.

With the final break, Chua cleared the table again, securing the final game and his first Matchroom Major title. His triumph in Hanoi not only crowns him the new King of Hanoi, but also completes a remarkable journey – from the World Cup semi-finals to the European Open final to the prestigious Hanoi Open title and Reyes Cup qualification. Johann Chua has undoubtedly enjoyed one of the best runs on the World Nineball Tour this year.
