Henry Cavill gets the next lead role in the film

Henry Cavill has landed his next leading role in a film.

Accordingly The Hollywood Reporterthe actor has joined the cast of the live-action adaptation Voltron Film for Amazon MGM Studios. Filming is set to begin in Australia later this year, but plot details are currently being kept secret.

Red notice Filmmaker Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ellen Shanman. Thurber will also produce alongside Todd Lieberman, Bob Koplar and David Hoberman.

Cavill joins the previously announced Daniel Quinn-Toye, known for his appearances in British sitcoms Villains. He also acted as an understudy to Tom Holland Romeo and Juliet in the West End earlier this year.

The Voltron The TV franchise is based on several Japanese anime series including Beast King GoLion And Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV.

Specifically, it is about five young pilots who control vehicles that can be combined into a mega robot called Voltron.

The series has since spawned several US versions, including Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defenderwhich lasted eight seasons.

It’s been a busy year for Cavill. He most recently had a cameo appearance as Wolverine variant Cavillrine in the hit Marvel blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverinewhich grossed over $1 billion at the global box office.

Earlier this year, Cavill starred in Matthew Vaughn’s mysterious spy thriller Argyllewhich tells the story of reclusive author Elly Conway, who writes bestselling spy novels about a secret agent named Argylle who is on a mission to uncover a global spy syndicate.

“However, as the plots of her books begin to reflect the covert actions of a real spy organization, the line between fiction and reality begins to blur.”

He also appeared in Guy Ritchie’s spy comedy The Ministry of Unfriendly WarfareOpposite Reacher Star Alan Ritchson. During the film’s premiere, Cavill announced that he and his girlfriend Natalie Viscuso are expecting their first child together.

“I’m very excited about it [fatherhood]. Natalie and I are very, very excited,” he said.

The Witcher The actor will reunite with Ritchie in the upcoming action thriller In the graywhich also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rosamund Pike and Eiza González.

Voltron does not yet have a release date.
