AP Top 25 college football rankings poll released after Week 7

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are in after Week 7 of college football, and there were some upsets after another wild weekend!

What if Oregon beat Ohio State, LSU beat Ole Miss, and Kansas State beat Colorado on the road? College football did not disappoint this weekend.

Let’s take a look at the latest AP Poll top 25 rankings after Week 6.

Texas had a good weekend, right? It’s always fun to beat rival Oklahoma and stay undefeated, right?

The Longhorns also earned a convincing win after a slow start. The 34-3 final will certainly look good on paper and after surviving an early turnover, Quinn Ewers made his first appearance back from injury.

Oregon held its own with a 32-31 victory over Ohio State in front of its home crowd. Dillon Gabriel and Jordan James had banner nights throwing and running the football.

Now Oregon joins Penn State as the team to beat in the Big Ten. According to current predictions, the Ducks have a chance to play against Ohio State or the Nittany Lions again in Indianapolis.

Penn State came back in the second half and beat USC on the road in overtime, 33-30. Even though the State College runway isn’t long enough, Penn State had some Harrisburg energy on Saturday!

The Nittany Lions remained undefeated and are quietly becoming a real playoff threat and potential Big Ten champion. We’ll see how the second half of the season develops.

Ohio State fell just short, and perhaps Will Howard wasn’t aware of the clock. But don’t blame the quarterback for the whole game, because he’s definitely good enough to win some other big games.

Furthermore, Ohio State could very well prevail and face Oregon again, this time for the Big Ten title. There’s no need to hit the panic button in Columbus.

Georgia Bulldogs

The Bulldogs defeated Mississippi State in a 41-31 shootout to secure another win. Aside from the Kirby Smart controversy, the Bulldogs remained in position for the SEC.

But how will the Bulldogs fare against Texas next weekend? Since Georgia has already suffered one loss, it can’t afford a second one and pray for a wild-card spot in the College Football Playoff.

Miami was idle this week and after exciting wins over Virginia Tech and Cal, it was probably a much-needed break. Still, the Hurricanes are at the top of the ACC and undefeated.

So far, despite the last two close games, this appears to be by far the best team in the conference. Clemson still has question marks, but may be in the process of clearing them. Speaking of which, more on that later!

Alabama is on shaky ground right now, but the Crimson Tide emerged victorious against an upset South Carolina team. If Alabama hadn’t defended a two-point conversion, who knows what would have happened?
There could be questions about Kalen DeBoer and Jalen Milroe, at least in the context of the last two weeks. But they can allay any worries with a road win next week at Tennessee.

8. LSU (+5)

After a Game 1 loss to USC, it looked like a disappointing season for LSU under Brian Kelly. Good thing we’re not overreacting to a game, right?!

The Tigers have won five games in a row and are suddenly in the SEC race midway through the year. It’s going to be really fun in Baton Rouge.

Iowa State may be the most under-the-radar team in the country. Maybe not anymore, considering the Cyclones are 6-0 and atop the Big 12 after a 28-16 win at West Virginia.

Maybe this is the season fans have been waiting for under Matt Campbell. A few more wins and we will finally have the groundbreaking campaign that lies ahead in the coming years.

Clemson’s comeback story since losing to Georgia in the first game of the year might be overlooked. The Tigers have won five games in a row and suddenly Dabo Swinney looks like a genius again.

Cade Klubnik threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-14 win over Wake Forest. As things currently stand, Clemson is likely to be the favorite in the remaining six games. Welcome back?
