Suspect ‘knocked down’, no Phoenix officer injured after police shooting in Sun City

SUN CITY, AZ (AZFamily) — Phoenix police say a suspect is “down” after an officer-involved shooting in Sun City Sunday morning.

Details are limited, but the shooting was reported around 8:30 a.m. near 99th Avenue and Thunderbird Road. Phoenix police say no officers were injured in the shooting and they are not looking for suspects.

The area will be closed as police investigate. There is no expected reopening date.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Peoria Police Department are assisting Phoenix Police in the investigation.

A Phoenix Police Department spokesman is en route to the scene to provide additional information.
