Sean “Diddy” Combs

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ attorney says the music mogul plans to testify in his upcoming federal trial.

Marc Agnifilo made this claim in an interview with TMZ for an upcoming documentary. The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment.

Combs was charged on Sept. 17 with sex trafficking, racketeering and solicitation for prostitution and is currently in federal custody awaiting trial after two different judges denied a request for bail. He has pleaded not guilty.

“I don’t know if I could keep him away from the witness stand,” Agnifilo told TMZ. “I think he’s very interested in telling his story.”

No date has been set for Combs’ trial.

Asked about the video of Combs violently attacking his ex-wife Cassie at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016, which could potentially be shown during an upcoming trial, Agnifilo said his client wanted to “address every part of his story, including what.” you can see in the video.”

“I expect both of us to explain,” Agnifilo said.

The charges against Combs revolve around “freak-offs,” which prosecutors have described as elaborate sex acts arranged by Combs. According to the indictment, women were allegedly coerced or coerced into working with male sex workers, sometimes over several days.

If Combs ultimately testifies, he would face potentially damaging cross-examination from prosecutors.

“He has his story,” Agnifilo repeated. “And he has a story, I think, only he can tell it the way he can tell it in real time. And it’s a human story, it’s a story of love, it’s a story of pain, it’s a story of heartbreak.”

Combs’ next court date is early October. He is currently in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Sources tell PEOPLE that he is currently housed in the same area of the facility as disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.
