Swim & Dive secures its first conference win against Northern Colorado

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho swimming and diving team earned a 167.5-132.5 win over conference foe Northern Colorado on Saturday afternoon at the Idaho Swim Center. The Vandals had 10 first place finishers and 16 other Vandals placed in the top three, helping the Vandals win.

Second-year diver from Idaho Lauren Wierschke scored the first points for Idaho, placing third in the 3-meter diving competition with a mark of 228.90. Wierschke also took second place in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 258.23.

Second semester Ginger pine achieved a total of three first place wins on the day. Kiefer dominated in the 1,000-yard freestyle, taking first place with a time of 10:26.73.
Kiefer placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.64) and the 200-yard IM (2:04.35) and also helped the team to a second-place finish (3:31.92) in the 400 yard freestyle relay consisting of Isabelle BarkMadelyn Butler and Grace rubles.

Ruble took first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.55 after placing third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.50).

Foley won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.46 and took second place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.04). Butler took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a score of 53.20.

Idaho went 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle, with Butler hitting the wall first and posting a time of 24.38, followed by Haskins (24.48) and Borke (24.60). Borke also took first place in the 200-yard freestyle that day with a time of 1:54.55.

Freshmen Courtney Crawford earned her second win of the season, taking first place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.07. She also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.97) and 200-yard IM (2:09.99), while Lenarz took second in the 500-yard freestyle.
