The Ohio State Buckeyes QB makes a brutal mistake in the final game against Oregon

Will Howard and the Ohio State Buckeyes wanted to make a statement tonight against the Oregon Ducks.

As a team, Ohio State wanted to win and prove that they were the team to beat in the Big Ten. For Howard, he wanted to prove to all critics that he was the team’s biggest weakness.

Unfortunately, none of these things happened.

Although the game lived up to the hype between two national championship contenders, the Buckeyes were unable to emerge victorious. In the end they lost with a final score of 32:31.

On the final drive of the game, Ohio State appeared to have some life left. They were able to advance to the Oregon 28-yard line before standout freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith made a crucial mistake. He was called for clear pass interference that cost his team 15 yards.

Even after that penalty, the Buckeyes still had life. However, another brutal mistake was made on the last play of the game.

With just six seconds left on the clock, Howard took the snap. He had to work with a timeout, trying to get Ohio State closer for a better field goal chance.

What happened next was a colossal mistake.

Howard ran with the football. He continued running until the clock struck one second, then slid to the ground when time was up. The game was over and his lack of awareness of the clock cost the team a chance at a field goal and the win.

No one can blame Howard for this loss. But as a veteran quarterback, not knowing the clock situation is a mistake that can’t be made. Howard has done absolutely nothing to eliminate his critics.

In fact, Howard gets screwed for his mistake. A quarterback must know the clock at all times. Howard’s mistake is inexcusable.

Luckily, this loss doesn’t mean the end of the Buckeyes’ season. They are still at the top of the College Football Playoff list.

However, the path becomes more difficult. Ohio State will face tremendous pressure to win every week from now on. No more mistakes can be made if you want to secure your way into the playoffs.

Aside from his big mistake on the final play, Howard had a strong performance. He completed 28 of his 35 pass attempts for 326 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Howard also scored a touchdown on the ground.

It’s a shame that his performance was marred by such a brutal and terrible mistake at the end of the game.
