UFC Vegas 98 Live Blog: Brandon Royval vs. Tatsuro Taira

This is the UFC Vegas 98 live blog for Brandon Royval vs. Tatsuro Taira, the flyweight main event this Saturday in Las Vegas.

Royval challenged 125-pound champion Alexandre Pantoja for the belt last December. Royval failed in his bid to win flyweight gold, losing a unanimous decision, but bounced back with a win over Brandon Moreno at UFC Mexico earlier this year. That victory moved Royval to No. 1 in the UFC flyweight rankings and kept him in the title conversation, and a win over the rising contender could give him another shot at gold.

Taira is one of the brightest talents in all of MMA. She is only 24 years old and is already one of the best flyweights in the world. At 6-0 since joining the UFC in 2022, Taira last defeated former title challenger Alex Perez in June and now hopes to solidify his own title shot with a win over another former title challenger.
