Pokémon Game for Nintendo Switch 2 Leaked Codenamed “Gaia”; A Pokémon MMO could also be in the works

The 10th generation Pokémon game will be coming to both the Nintendo Switch 2 and its predecessor, according to new information leaked online today.

A few hours ago, it was confirmed that Pokémon series developer Game Freak was hacked and over a terabyte of data was stolen. Included in the leak is the source code for older entries in the series, such as Black and White 2, as well as information about future projects, including the Gen 10 game, codenamed Gaia, which will be released on both the Nintendo Switch 2 and its predecessor. Additionally, the leak also confirmed that the next Nintendo console will indeed be codenamed “Ounce,” as previously revealed.

The next mainline entry in the Pokémon series, coming to Nintendo Switch 2, isn’t the only future project leaked today. Game Freak is also working with ILCA on a game codenamed Synapse, a multiplayer/fighting game and apparently even the MMO based on the series that fans have been waiting for for a very long time.

Pokémon series developer Game Freak is just the latest game development company to have sensitive information stolen and leaked online. Last year, Insomniac, developer of the Marvel franchise “Spider-Man” and “Ratchet and Clank,” suffered a ransomware attack that resulted in a massive data breach ranging from employees’ personal information to details of future projects.
