Memphis beats USF 21-3 to get its first conference win

ORLANDO, Fla. (WMC) – In a game moved from Tampa to Orlando and played a day later than originally scheduled, the Memphis Tigers defeated USF 21-3 to earn their first win in AAC play. The Tigers are 5-1 overall.

Memphis’ offense got off to a hot start, scoring touchdowns on two of its first three drives, with Seth Henigan throwing scores to Demeer Blankumsee and Mario Anderson in the first quarter.

After that it was quiet on offense, but the defense had to let up. USF, playing without starting quarterback Byrum Brown, struggled to get anything going against the Memphis defense. The Tigers forced three turnovers and scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery in the fourth quarter.

Memphis returns home next Saturday to face North Texas.
