Massive Pokemon leak reveals Gen 10 and new MMO

It appears that Pokemon developer Game Freak has been hacked and as a result some unannounced Pokemon games have been leaked. More specifically, Gen 10 – the next mainline Pokémon game – and a new online MMO. Unfortunately, the leak does not contain any media about the two games, only their existence, their codenames and some details. The source code for older Pokémon games has now also been leaked online as part of this hack.

The new MMO is reportedly in development under the codename “Synapse” and is being created in collaboration with Game Freak and ILCA. Details on this are scarce, other than that it is an MMO and is “combat-oriented.”

Meanwhile, Pokemon Gen 10 is set to be developed under the codename “Gaia”. Like the new MMO, it is being developed for the Nintendo Switch 2, which according to the same leak is codenamed Ounce. If that’s true, we won’t be seeing these games until next year at the earliest, when the Nintendo Switch 2 is due to release, at least according to a plethora of rumors.

In addition to the new games leaked, the leak has flooded the internet with the source code for Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul Silver, as well as Pokemon Black and White 2.

The origins of this Game Freak leak are currently unclear, but it is quickly spreading across the internet. It has also been validated by some reliable sources. Meanwhile, accounts that shared the leak are starting to go private, likely in anticipation that Nintendo and The Pokemon Company will begin filing DMCA claims. However, so far there is no evidence that this is the case.

At the time of publication, Game Freak, The Pokemon Company and Nintendo have commented on this leak and the speculation surrounding it. We don’t suspect this will change for a variety of reasons, but if it does, we’ll be sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, you should take everything here with caution. Although it is difficult to question the validity of the leak itself since it provides overwhelming evidence, including a ton of personal and private files, it is possible that the files are old and therefore potentially inaccurate. As far as we know, these projects have been frozen, but the files seem to indicate that they are in ongoing development.
