Inductees to the 2024 Athletics Alumni Hall of Fame


BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University football team defeated Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference and Hall of Fame game by a final score of 36-7 at Tressel Field at George Finnie Stadium.

BW (4-1, 3-1 OAC) improved to 42-21-1 in the all-time series with Otterbein (0-5, 0-4 OAC), including winning the last six contests.

During the first quarter intermission, the 2024 Athletics Alumni Hall of Fame class was introduced to the crowd at Finnie Stadium. The nine inductees include Sara Baker-Zito ’13 (softball), Kris Boey ’98 (men’s cross country and track and field), Ariel Brough ’10 (women’s basketball), Brooke Hamilton-Seiler ’13 (women’s golf) and Rebecca Kapusta ’13 (women’s golf), Doug Knight ’95 (men’s wrestling), Matt Kubinski ’90 (football), Andy Schmitz ’96 (honor player) and Phil Stringer ’90 (baseball).

Offensive lineman for the Yellow Jackets, second-year quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) completed 21 of 32 passes for 236 yards and scored a career-high four touchdowns. Sophomore running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) led the ground attack as it rushed for 45 yards on 14 carries. Junior wide receiver Tim Conwell (Avon) led the Air Raid by catching seven passes and rushing for a career-best 112 yards and two touchdowns. Defensive, junior linebacker Dom Tromba (Painesville/Riverside).

Offensively for the Comets, sophomore quarterback Cayden Lassiter completed 3 of 10 passes for 29 yards with one interception. Sophomore running back John Lard rushed for 52 yards on 10 carries. Senior wide receiver Armani Burton caught a pass for 35 yards
Defensively, junior defensive back Tyreek Gunnell recorded a game-high 13 tackles.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, October 19th when they host crosstown rival John Carroll University at Wasmer Field in Don for the final OAC and 36th Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy meeting at 2:00 p.m Shula Stadium travel to nearby University Heights
