Here’s where we were and what we drank…

Hey gang! I’m not sure who reads this, even on Fridays, but our authors take the time to share them, so I want to give you all the opportunity to share your tailgate setups too, especially since we still have a few have great matches left. (I’m talking about Illinois-Purdue, of course.)

A Friday game?? Hot dog!

My wife is attending a lymphatic training conference, which means I will be parenting my child alone for almost all of my waking moments Thursday through Sunday. On Saturday we might do a repeat of last Saturday’s zoo disaster (in-laws, man) and then get a barely used racing bike from my parents.

But Friday? As soon as the child goes to bed, I lie on the couch with a glass of cheap red wine, a bowl of real butter and salty popcorn and fall asleep halfway through. However, that means there is still wine left for Saturday.

MNW Update: Made it through the whole game and the popcorn was delicious. The zoo redux was slightly better, although there were fewer animals out and about on a chilly Minnesota day.

RUReady4Brazil

Fort Mill, SC. A volleyball friend of my wife who failed to get her beach team from Cape Verde to the Olympics will be visiting. So we’ll be in the Small Bar (yes, that’s actually the name) because even though the bar is small, it has three large, sandy volleyball courts in the back. Cherry bombs are the Monday special, but since they’re great I’ll have them on tap along with some Wicked Weed.

If I couldn’t be home in time for the Penn State-USC game, I would definitely be in Amherst watching Missouri play UMass on the road. I’ll probably drink seltzer or another clear liquid.

Brian Gillis (at Penn State-USC)

I’ll be there Los Angeles Coliseum Saturday, we look at USC and Penn State in the Big Ten’s other big game. The Trojans hope a return home will get them back on track. The march to the playoffs continues for the Nittany Lions.

What will I drink? If you are in Rome…

And here’s a picture update from Brian, Tag:

BoilerUp89

I missed all of the local Oktoberfest celebrations in the Cincinnati area this year (a rarity since I usually attend two of them each year), so I think we’ll have a family reunion where we host our own Oktoberfest on Saturday , sauerkraut, pretzels, potato pancakes, strudel and beer.

I haven’t bought the beer for this meeting yet, so I’m not sure what I’ll be drinking, but something from Germany that I find at the wonderful international market Jungle Jims. It also gives me the opportunity to avoid the Purdue football game, and I’m grateful for that.

I love a good Oktoberfest and requested that BoilerBot share his pictures with the class next week.

Thumpasaurus

After much deliberation, I will be at historic Keyworth Stadium watching the Detroit City Football Club secure a spot in the playoffs by defeating the abominable Indy Eleven. who fortunately only have a few years left before they are eliminated due to the MLS. I really want to come to this cannon game. but it’s just not a viable solution. Both losses, which I personally witnessed on September 30 last year, will be avenged. I will drink B Nectar Zombie Killer and of course the blood of Ryan Walters in the form of Jägermeister if the fighting Illinois successfully capture the cannon

There is no Husker football this weekend, so I probably won’t see many games. In the morning I briefly help a friend with his house repairs and then set off for my nephew’s 8th birthday party. Not a very sporty day, but should be a fun one!

BRT and the Huskers posted a five-setter against Purdue in volleyball last night, so let’s hope the cupcakes are extra sweet today.

BuffKomodo

I’ll be home in Cincy, cleaning the garage and going to little Komodo’s soccer game. Pepsi will be the drink of choice.

Ah, the bye week tasks.

Checking in with Hawkeye Elvis

Some of you may have heard or noticed that Hawkeye Elvis will be joining the OTE crew with occasional updates and recaps for Iowa. Well, he’s a little busy today – no pockets in his overalls:
