Man injured in early morning shooting in Peoria

PEORIA (25News Now) – Peoria Police said a man was injured after an early morning shooting on Peoria’s south side.

Police Sergeant Amy Dotson said just after 5 a.m. Saturday, police were observing a large crowd in a parking lot in the 600 block of South Western when officers heard numerous gunshots. Officers entered the crowd and began searching for victims.

A shotgun alert was also received indicating seven shots were fired in the same area.

Dotson said a man with gunshot wounds was found on the sidewalk near the intersection of Howett and Western. He was taken to hospital and is in critical but stable condition.

There is currently no suspect information and the incident remains under investigation.
