The Texas Tech football program unveiled new alternate uniforms this week that feature former quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ “Gladiator” logo and will be worn Nov. 9 against Colorado.

The dark gray jerseys follow the same overall design as the black home, white road and red alternate jerseys the Red Raiders unveiled in July, with two thick stripes on the sleeves and pants.

But while the black home jersey and white road jersey have “Texas Tech” written on the chest and the red third jersey has “Red Raiders,” the gray jerseys have an oversized “Tech.”

The wordmark, numbers and stripes are all metallic gray with a red dash, while the stripe pattern and double “T” logos on the gray helmets feature an electroplated finish reminiscent of the bevel in the logo.

As previously mentioned, the uniforms feature Mahomes’ personal logo on the left shoulder and left hip, spots that were reserved for the Adidas logo on Texas Tech’s other uniforms.

“Seeing my own logo on the Texas Tech uniform that I put so much blood, sweat and tears into is one of the most meaningful accomplishments of my career off the field,” Mahomes said in a press release.

The three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL MVP played for the Red Raiders from 2014 to 2016 before being selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mahomes joins the likes of Michael Jordan and LeBron James in having their personal brands emblazoned on game-worn college uniforms, becoming the first adidas athlete to achieve this feat.

“There is no stronger brand in sports than Patrick Mahomes,” said athletic director Kirby Hocutt. “We look forward to unveiling this jersey in front of a sold-out Jones AT&T Stadium against Colorado on November 9th.”
