Purva Mantri on Singing Garba Song Aavati Kalay Written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Receiving His Praise: Nothing Less Than…

Singer Purva Mantri recently sang a Garba song titled Navratri Aavati Kalaywhich caught the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Interestingly, the Prime Minister has also penned the lyrics for it and while Mantri calls it an “honor” to sing the song, being honored by the Prime Minister on X just feels like a dream for her.

Purva Mantri on praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi

If you ask her about it, she says, “I can’t even put into words what it means as an artist to be praised by him.” On Monday morning, my phone rang off the hook. I was curious about what had happened and the first message I received was from my father, who forwarded me the Prime Minister’s tweet. I was just shocked when I saw that he had mentioned me by name. For me and my family it is nothing less than an award for my life’s work. As an artist, I can’t stop dreaming, but this is the biggest achievement for me so far.”

Mantri added, “As a singer who has sung his song, I would like to meet the Prime Minister and personally thank him. When my dad called he was so emotional. I’ve always seen him so strong, but on that call he just cried and thanked the Supreme Power.”

The singer shares that she recorded and shot the song and its accompanying music video in less than 24 hours: “On Saturday evening I got a call that I had to record my vocals by early Sunday morning at the most. We finished it at 9 a.m. and within the next hour I was there to shoot the music video.”

While she was excited about the opportunity, Mantri reveals that she was unaware of the Prime Minister’s involvement in the song until she did the dubbing for it. “I came to know about it when I was dubbing the track. The strength I gained when I sang that track afterwards was just something else. It was really emotional for me because Mataji Na Dakhla is a very powerful Garba and with our Prime Minister’s words his power has only increased. When you take on this responsibility as a singer, it becomes even more necessary to live up to it and I did my best,” she concludes.
