Shooting today in East Garfield Park, Chicago: Man was fatally shot in a vehicle in the 400 block of North Springfield Avenue, police said

CHICAGO (WLS) – A man was shot to death in a vehicle on Chicago’s West Side Friday evening, police said.

According to police, the shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. in the 400 block of North Springfield Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood

A 38-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle on Springfield Avenue when shots were fired, police said.

The victim was shot in the face and chest and rushed to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

There is no one in custody and Area Four detectives are investigating.

Police did not initially provide any further information about the shooting.
