What’s a horror movie you watch every year?

What’s a horror movie you watch every year?

Ok, let’s have it — who should play Doctor Doom in the MCU?

Yes, Marvel cast Giancarlo Esposito in a secret role — maybe he’s Kang. Maybe he’s Doom. Maybe his Squirrel Girl (the man can do anything). But all that aside, who should play Doctor Doom in the MCU? My pick is Alexander Skarsgård — creepy when he needs to be, funny when he needs to be, charming, scary, imposing, and all the things that an MCU Doom would have to be. He’s also the same general age bracket RDJ was when he picked up Tony Stark, tall and buff enough to go up against the other Avengers physically, and just a little bit weird like Benedict Cumberbatch. As Doom mixes the skills and status of Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Black Panther, and Reed Richards, this works for me. What about you?

Amy Adams is the best actress of her generation

Amy Adams just turned 50, and her acting legacy is already mightily impressive. The six-time Oscar nominee has given us masterful performances in pretty much every genre under the sun; she was a lively princess in Enchanted, the embodiment of virtue in Doubt, a badass working woman in The Fighter, and a tortured soul in Nocturnal Animals. Adams’ versatility and willingness to take risks and always defy conventions and expectations make her the best actress of her generation. Her two best performances, as the cerebral linguist Louise Banks in Arrival and the self-harming alcoholic Camille Preaker in Sharp Objects, show not only a remarkable emotional intelligence but an openness to tackle the deepest and often darkest aspects of the human condition. Many other actresses from her generation — Charlize Theron, Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Chastain — are also absurdly talented, but

Is Aliens better than Alien?

One of the seminal rules in the movie industry is that sequels almost always fail to live up to the original. However, there are exceptions to every rule; The Dark Knight, T2, The Godfather Part 2 all proved to do the opposite. However, one of the most hotly contested topics has been whether the sequel to Ridley Scott’s iconic horror, Alien, was better than the original. Personally, I always found that Aliens took the concept of the original and just improved on it by showing us the full force of what “the perfect organism” is truly capable of. The action, tension and effects all get heightened to a level that makes Aliens a must-watch film for any sci-fi or film fan in general. What are your thoughts?

Eiza González Should Be Your Next Wonder Woman

The recent casting of Aaron Pierre as John Stewart represents a major turning point in building the new DCU. However, there’s a key figure whose status is still uncertain: Wonder Woman. It’s currently unlikely that Gal Gadot will return to the role, meaning the Amazon Princess will probably have a new face in the DCU, and I’d like to recommend Eiza González for the role. The Mexican actress has slowly proven herself ever since her breakthrough role in Edgar Wright’s 2017 action thriller Baby Driver. This year, she cemented herself as a leading lady in Guy Ritchie’s criminally underrated war comedy The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. González is ready to take on a major role, and who better than Wonder Woman? The 34-year-old actress already came very close to getting another key DC role, Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, but Wonder Woman might just be the role for her. What do you think? Who’s your choice for the DCU’s Wonder Woman?

Should Superman Still Have Trunks on the Outside of His Suit?

Now that we’ve gotten a proper look at David Corenswet’s suit, we know that the Man of Steel will sport his iconic briefs in James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ film next year. When Superman was first created in the 1930s, he was based on the strongmen of that time. They would regularly wear shorts outside their skin-tight suits for modesty. But nearly 100 years later, strongmen are a thing of the past, but Superman continues to wear his shorts. I think it’s a fitting nod to his origins, but what do you think? Is it time to finally put them away?

Now that Blade has lost Yann Demange as its director, who would YOU like to see direct the film?

While it currently feels like Blade is never going to get made, it does seem like Marvel still believes in the film and they will continue to try to make it happen. With Yann Demange stepping away from the project, who would you like to see direct the film? I would love to see Michael B. Jordan step into the directing arena again, and given his own MCU experience I really think he’d kill it.

What is Stanley Kubrick’s best film?

It’s like picking the best rose, right? I’m not going to deny away from my repeated, endless viewings of the ‘The Shining’ or the cult of theorizing around it. Nor am I going to say that there would be anything wrong about claiming his best film was ‘Barry Lyndon,’ ‘2001: A Space Odyssey,’ ‘Full Metal Jacket,’ ‘Dr. Strangelove,’ ‘The Killing,’ ‘A Clockwork Orange,’ or any of his six other movies (he made so few if you think about it). But if I had to pick a single film, it’s one of his more conventional outings, ‘Paths of Glory.’ While not as technically brilliant, visionary, or influential as some of his other works, it’s a movie with a very sharp point and a sharper edge — a film with a clear, undiluted human message we all should hear. Sometimes, a director’s best work isn’t their most awe-inspiring. Sometimes, it’s the most necessary. What’s your pick?

What Disney or Pixar animated movie should get a ride at Disneyland or Walt Disney World?

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar have so many great stories and characters that are beloved. From ‘Encanto’ and ‘Moana’ to ‘Zootopia’ and ‘Big Hero 6’ to ‘Turning Red’ and ‘Luca,’ the possibilities are still endless, as far as what could be added in the future. Some are already in the works. And while it’s great to see representation of some of the mentioned titles with live entertainment or as part of a parade or fireworks show, that’s still not the same as a ride or even an entire land. Personally, I would love to see a ride representing ‘Encanto,’ Casa Madrigal, and Mirabel’s family, or a water ride for ‘Luca’ that represents the half-human, half-sea monster characters. Tiana and her animal friends from ‘The Princess and the Frog’ are now represented with a celebration of New Orleans culture and music in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. What Disney Animation or Pixar story and character would you love to see, in a ride or land at Disneyland or Walt Disney World?

What is your favorite M. Night Shyamalan Movie?

I’ve been officially Trap-pilled, even though I haven’t seen the movie yet. I’m just an M. Night Shyamalan guy. Even his misses are interesting. Well except for The Last Airbender and After Earth, but let’s just act like those movies don’t exist.

Shyamalan has made some all-timers, but if I had to choose a favorite, I have to go with the obvious answer: The Sixth Sense. The plot twist in this movie is nothing short of brilliant and is easily my favorite movie plot twist of all time. For better and for worse, it definitely seems like Shyamalan has been trying to recapture that kind of zeitgeist ever since. But who can really blame him for that? I’d do the same thing.

This might be Bruce Willis’ best non-Die Hard role. The fact that he wasn’t even nominated for an Oscar for his performance is criminal. It’s hard to say whether or not Shyamalan will ever make another movie that lives up to The Sixth Sense’s greatness. He’s without question a very talented storyteller, but pondering whet

Have you ever watched an actor’s entire filmography before? If so, who was it?

While it’s not uncommon to run into completionists who have to watch the entirety of a television series or movie franchise, there are also folks who are completionists when it comes to an actor’s filmography. For myself, I’ve watched every movie that Christian Bale, Adam Driver, and Daniel Brühl have been in. But I’m curious, which actors have you watched everything they’ve been in, the good AND the bad. Because, let’s be real, every movie doesn’t have rewatch potential!

Why do the new transformers look so different?

In the new Transformers movie ‘Transformers One,’ the characters look more like the classic action figures, which I’m all for if they’re sticking to the original show vibes. But here’s the thing—if this is supposed to be canon and happens before the 2007 movie, why do they look so different? How does the younger version of Optimus Prime have almost no extra parts, but the older version suddenly has a windshield on his chest and exhaust pipes on his shoulders? What’s going on there?

What Is Your Favorite Eddie Murphy Movie?

My personal favorite Eddie Murphy movie(s) are the first two Shrek movies. While yes they are animated, and yes Donkey is a supporting character, Murphy’s personality and charisma shine so bright. It’s easily one of the best roles of his career. However, if I can’t pick a voice-over role, then I’d have to go with the original Beverly Hills Cop. I remember watching this for the first time and being surprised at how much the movie blended the action and the comedy. Unlike some of the action comedies that come out now, the first Beverly Hills Cop isn’t afraid to be dark and gritty, the humor all comes from Murphy’s incredible delivery (and of course Bronson Pinchot’s Serge).

What is the best Godzilla movie?

It’s been a big year for cinema’s most iconic monster, Godzilla, with more people discovering the outstanding Godzilla Minus One and getting completely swept up in his latest cinematic incarnation. Though not quite as good as something like Shin Godzilla, it still saw the creature smashing to bold new heights. There also is the continued rollout of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which recently began streaming on Max, but that’s mostly just the equivalent of “we have Godzilla Minus One at home.” Still, it raises an important question: what is the best Godzilla movie? There are a whole lot to choose from, dating all the way back to the original 1954 Godzilla, but we want to hear only about the best of the best. Make your case below why your movie smashes the competition underfoot.

What book needs a movie or TV adaptation next?

Book adaptations have given us some pretty excellent movies and television over the years. Like anything else, they can be hit or miss, but I love to see variations on books and how they turn out on-screen. Book adaptations brought us The Shining, Game of Thrones, Poor Things, and tons of takes on Frankenstein. Recently it was announced another Grady Hendrix book is going to be an HBO series, and Saltburn’s Emerald Fennell will be taking on Wuthering Heights! I’d love to see the TV series adaptation (in talks back in 2019) of Madeline Miller’s Circe. Which book would you like to see adapted into a movie or TV show?

Who is your dream cast for a Knives Out sequel?

Rian Johnson has put together a pretty cool cast for Knives Out 3, but I can’t help but think about a Knives Out film featuring my favorite actors. Who would you love to see star opposite Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc in a twisty murder mystery? I would happily pick Adam Driver, Kelly Marie Tran, Daniel Brühl, and Dakota Johnson.

After ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ Would You Want To See Jennifer Garner in Another Elektra Movie?

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ certainly crams a lot of characters into its hearty runtime, but the one that stands out the most to me was Jennifer Garner’s Elektra. Of all the extended cameos, Elektra felt the most natural, and Jennifer Garner did not miss a beat from her days headlining the 2005 movie. Sure, that movie might not have been the most well-received by critics and certainly could’ve done a lot better at the box office, but Garner’s commitment to the role and overall badassery in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is more than enough proof that we not only need another shot at a solo Elektra movie, but that Jennifer Garner should be the one to wield the swords again.

What’s Will Ferrell’s Most Underrated Movie?

Will Ferrell is a comedy king, there is no question. I love his era of ‘Saturday Night Live’ and his brilliant collaborations with Cheri Oteri and Molly Shannon. I mean, can you really beat the Spartan Cheerleaders? No. The wonderfully bizarre Dog Show? Mr. Bojangles is an icon. Of course, ‘Elf,’ ‘Anchorman,’ ‘Wedding Crashers,’ and ‘Step Brothers’ all spring to mind when we think of his movies, but there’s one that rarely gets the attention (if any at all) it deserves. 2005’s ‘Kicking & Screaming’ starring Ferrell, Robert Duvall, Kate Walsh, and a baby Josh Hutcherson is a hilarious sports comedy in which Ferrell’s Phil competes against his father (Duvall) to see who can coach the better kids’ soccer team. Probably the best part of the movie is when Phil discovers the wonders of coffee…and subsequently gets banned from a coffee shop. And it’s PG? This movie is funnier than it has every right to be.

What Movie Do You Wish Had a Musical Sequel?

Many were confused when Todd Phillips announced a sequel to Joker, and even more so when it was revealed to be a musical. Whether you liked Joker: Folie à Deux or not, the concept of a musical sequel to a movie that in no way seemed to need one is fun to think about. Which popular standalone movie or franchise do you think could benefit from some song and dance?

What’s Your Favorite Chris Sanders Animated Duo?

Largely known for his collaborations with Dean DeBlois on movies like ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ and ‘Lilo & Stitch,’ Chris Sanders is now dominating the box office with his latest directorial endeavor, ‘The Wild Robot.’ The movie proves once again that Sanders is an expert at pairing a loveable outcast with an adorable animal, so which iconic animated duo is your favorite?
