A closer look at Loewe’s delirious, erotically charged…

Los Angeles-based artist Richard Hawkins provided the backdrop for Jonathan Anderson’s Fall 2024 men’s fashion show for Loewe, and saw the house’s heartthrob muses – from Jamie Dornan and Josh O’Connor to Omar Apollo and Manu Rios – take on the theme of his insane, erotic collages that deal with contemporary celebrity culture. Her iPhone selfies, sometimes shirtless, were combined with Hawkins’ fixations, including Roman statues, French decadence and the glossy guys from 1980s teen magazines, and transferred to screens that resembled stained glass windows. At the end of the runway, a collection of paintings by the artist was dubbed an “altar” by Anderson.

Hawkins’ vibrant works appear in the Fall ’24 collection, adorning a version of Anderson’s Puzzle bag – an origami-like version of the house’s signature handbag that folds completely flat – or on casual knit sweaters and intricately decorated with caviar beads decorated hoodies and sweatpants. They were woven into a collection that Anderson described as a “move away from formality and the idea of ​​a single look,” evoking revealing teenage style and their poster-covered bedrooms (indeed, a layered look evoked the accumulation of garments, which may have led to this). lying on the floor).

“Modern life has become a collage,” the Northern Irish designer continued. “I look at this idea of ​​iconography. It’s about different types of validation… about how we perceive ourselves to the outside world. It’s a new psychology. I don’t know what that means for the future – but I think it could be exciting.”
