TODAY:

Some fog is possible near area lakes this morning, with a morning low around 50°. Beautiful summer day with sunshine and a high in the mid 80s.

SUNDAY:

Partly cloudy and warm temperatures in the upper 80s on Sunday. It could approach a record high of 88°, plus it will be windy in the afternoon with sustained winds of 10-15 mph and gusts up to about 20 mph.

A cold front will move through the Mid State Sunday evening and overnight, but with a lack of moisture, rain is very unlikely in most areas as this front pushes through. There is a slight chance for a shower or two across eastern Middle Tennessee.

What will happen behind the cold front on Sunday is a MAJOR cooling for next week.

NEXT WEEK:

On Monday, temperatures will be in the upper 60s in the afternoon and reach a low overnight, falling well into the 40s. On Tuesday morning, some higher elevations in the Cumberland Plateau could wake up to the first frost of the season!

Tuesday afternoon will be even cooler with temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s in the afternoon. Overnight lows on Tuesday will fall into the lower 40s and perhaps even the upper 30s. Better chances for more widespread frost Wednesday morning.

Highs Wednesday afternoon will remain in the low to mid 60s under mostly sunny skies. A clear and cool night follows with low temperatures around 40 degrees and some frost is possible again on Thursday morning.

Thursday will be slightly warmer, with highs around 70°.
