1 dead, at least 12 injured in shooting at party in Oklahoma City, police say

(CNN) — A shooting at a party in Oklahoma City early Saturday left one person dead and at least 12 others injured, police said.

Two groups got into a “verbal altercation” at an event center around 12:30 p.m. local time that spilled into a parking lot where shots were fired, Sgt. Jon Skuta of the Oklahoma City Police Department told CNN.

“These people then went back into the event center where the shooting continued,” Skuta said, adding that investigators believe it was an isolated incident.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and at least 12 others showed up at hospitals with gunshot wounds, Skuta said. No information was available about her health or age.

Skuta said there had been no arrests as of early Saturday, but people had been detained.

It is unclear what led to the brawl and how many people fired shots.
