DETROIT – It was strangely fitting that Tigers legend Kirk Gibson threw out the first pitch before Game 4 of the American League Division Series on Thursday at Comerica Park.

When Guardians slugger David Fry crushed a narrow home run off Detroit’s Beau Brieske in the seventh inning to lead Cleveland to a 5-4 victory, he, along with Gibson, was one of only four major league players to come off the bench and succeeded in the feat.
