The Lakewood football team has been a force to be reckoned with over the last few weeks, and Friday night was no different as Kade Casillas scored a career-best six touchdowns as the Lancers defeated Jordan 56-6.

After winning the first coin toss, Lakewood marched right down the field and Casillas fired the ball and connected with Kenny Niumataevalu for a 52-yard touchdown that gave the Lancers a 7-0 lead with 10:30 left in the first quarter .

“Proud of the way we executed it offensively,” Lakewood coach Justin Utupo said. “The way we were able to attack defensively, it was a pretty clean game on special teams and in our kicking games. However, I can’t afford that I think I counted 17 penalties.”

Lakewood’s Red Swarm defense continued to fire on all cylinders and forced a punt on the Panthers’ opening drive.

Jojo Apisala brought the ball home on the next drive with 52 yards on the ground including a 1-yard touchdown to make it 14-0.

Jordan’s offense faltered on the next drive and Lakewood immediately went back to work and this time it was Nytrell Miller who came through with a 31-yard gain on the next drive to give the Lancers a 21-0 lead.

Lakewood made it 28-0 after another punt and Casillas hit Tiwan Jones for a 71-yard touchdown, giving the junior a career night.

After another stop, Casillas threw his third touchdown, a 1-yard touchdown to Caleb Tafua, to make the score 35-0.

Casillas threw a career-best six touchdowns and completed 14 of 16 passes for 413 yards.

“It just shows how many people we have on the team,” said Casillas about his commitment.

Jordan wouldn’t be shut out as Kalib Tautolo hit John Lim for a 19-yard touchdown to make it 49-6.

“What I want to convey to the kids is that football is like life, right?,” Jordan coach Eric Richardson said. “That’s what we have to play with the hand we’ve been dealt, right? Keep going, keep fighting and get the playmakers involved too.”

Lakewood will be back in action next week against Millikan, while Jordan will face Compton.
