NBA TV’s Sam Mitchell gets into a heated argument with co-host Chris Miles and gives his speech live on air

NBA TV hosts Chris Miles and Sam Mitchell got into an argument during a pregame show that actually resulted in a speech being leaked on national television.

They appeared to be arguing about how much money each of them made, as former NBA player/coach Mitchell referenced how Miles allegedly always bragged about his wealth.

At the beginning of the video clip, it all seemed like a light-hearted joke as Miles said to Mitchell, “I’m surprised coaches get a paycheck for this show. I think maybe you should volunteer, my friend.”

“You know, the last time I looked at my check, it was pretty tight,” Mitchell said, alluding to the fact that he was underpaid.

However, this was just the beginning as he became involved with his younger colleague Miles.

“So hey, I’m accepting donations. So why don’t you get some of that money you got while you’re bragging about it over there?”

Miles laughed at that, “I’m not bragging about it.”

Mitchell then even brought up his co-host’s assets.

“Uh oh, I’m sorry you rented out your beach house down in Florida during the hurricane or do I have to move on. How about your townhouse over in Buckhead?”

Miles shouted, “What’s going on?!”

Mitchell said, “You want to call me out. I mean, come on… You scream broken and hungry, let’s just see. You know I know what you have and where you live, young man, so you have to stop.”

Miles continued to smile. “I think we have snitches on the show today.”

“No, we don’t have informants, we have fortune tellers… So you’re the one crying up here, poor and destitute, when… Do I have to keep going or do you want me to stop? at the moment.”

Miles tried to change the subject and said, “Why don’t we go to that game between the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors?”

“That’s what I thought,” Mitchell continued, wagging his finger. “I told you, you have to stop messing with me on national television, I told you.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Mitchell went one step further and made this an all-time classic live TV moment that undoubtedly went viral when he shockingly revealed where Miles lives.

“Hey, can I give out the address? Because you’re not home right now.”

Then Mitchell actually released the speech later in the broadcast, as you can hear in the video:

Given both co-hosts’ net worth, Mitchell, 61, should have the upper hand as he enjoyed a 12-year playing career in the NBA, earning a total of $12 million in contract money from 1990-2001 as a player for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers (8.7 points per game on 44% FG shooting).

In addition, he was also the head coach of the Toronto Raptors (2004-2008) and the Minnesota Timberwolves (2015-2016).

On the other hand, Miles, who is 38 years old, has never played in the NBA but has 15 years of experience as a sportscaster.

All in all, Mitchell may have overreacted a bit, because even if Miles bragged about his wealth or attacked him on the air, it was definitely a little unprofessional to say the least. Still, producers are clearly letting it roll, so who knows if it will have any impact, but ultimately no one will be surprised if Mitchell is out of work in the coming days.
