In Week 8 high school football action, Franklin County edged Batesville 31-17 last night; East Central steamrolled Greensburg 49-0; it was Milan 48, South Decatur 14; North Decatur destroyed Edinburgh 82-0; Rushville defeated South Dearborn 30-10 and Lawrenceburg defeated Connersville 51-0.

It’s championship Saturday with boys and girls soccer title games featuring several regional teams. Oldenburg Academy will face host Milan tonight for the Class 1A, Section 44 boys championship. WRBI coverage begins around 7 p.m. with Terrance Arney on the phone. Elsewhere, East Central faces host Center Grove in the boys 3A tournament. In the girls soccer group championship games, OA plays host Rising Sun this afternoon; East Central will play Greenfield-Central for the New Palestine Section title, and South Dearborn will face Lawrenceburg for the Batesville Section title.

The Los Angeles Dodgers advanced to the National League Championship Series by defeating the San Diego Padres 2-0 and winning the Division Series three games to two. Game five of the American League Division Series between Detroit and Cleveland has been postponed until first pitch at 1 p.m. due to expected inclement weather.

In today’s college football, Purdue plays Illinois, Notre Dame hosts Stanford, Ball State visits Kent State, Butler heads to Drake, Indiana State plays Murray State, UC travels to Central Florida, Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt, and Louisville travels to Virginia.

In the NFL tomorrow, the Colts face the Tennessee Titans in an AFC South matchup. Kickoff in Nashville is at 1 p.m. RB Jonathan Taylor has been ruled out for Indianapolis. He will miss his second straight game since suffering an ankle injury in the Week Four win over Pittsburgh. The Bengals visit the New York Giants for Sunday Night Football. Kickoff at the Meadowlands is scheduled for 8:20 a.m.

And the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs continue tomorrow at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
