The Kerala unit of the Indian National Congress (INC) on Friday shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing water leaks on the newly opened Mumbai Metro Aqua Line, sharply criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Aqua Line, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister just six days ago, is now facing public embarrassment over reported leaks.

Making fun of the situation, the Congress posted on social media: “Mumbai Metro Aqua Line… was launched six days ago… Seems like Modi named it to be honest about his work – always leaking,” addressing the Prime Minister directly on reputation and governance.

The video went viral and left netizens divided over the quality of infrastructure projects launched by political parties.

A user targeting the Congress wrote: “Unlike the Kerala government, which has no money or jobs under the Congress and the Left, at least a glorious metro is being built, which will be a financial burden for the rest of.” “Bharat represents.”

Another user commented: “Mumbai Metro Aqua Line – perhaps an apt name if the work ends up “leaking” as some projects have faced problems in the past! All joking aside, it is a crucial development in easing commutes in the city. Let’s hope this is not the case.” Only the name is fluid, but so is the quality and efficiency!”

On October 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first 12.7 km section of the Mumbai Metro’s Aqua Line (Line 3) and announced operations at the Bandra-Kurla Complex station before riding the line. Public service began on October 7th.

The Aqua Line, officially known as Mumbai Metro 3 or Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Line, is Mumbai’s first underground metro system. Phase 1 of the project, a 12.44 kilometer stretch between Colaba and Seepz, was commissioned earlier this week. But just days after its launch, the project stalled, raising doubts about its much-hyped unveiling.

The Aqua Line spans a total length of 33.5 kilometers and its full completion is expected to improve connectivity between key areas such as Aarey, JVLR and the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). Phase 1 covers 10 stations and envisages 96 daily trips on nine trains, with fares ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50.

Services run from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on weekdays and start later at 8:30 a.m. on weekends.
