Celebrities are swapping their diamonds for the stone necklace trend

Sorry, diamonds, but there’s a new jewelry trend clinging to the necks of the chicest celebrities this season. Less ostentatious and far more wearable in everyday life: stone necklaces are the fresh and playful accessory that the most stylish stars are currently reaching for.

With its boho energy, this pretty necklace trend adds a relaxed element to an outfit like few other pieces of jewelry could. Nicole Richie and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are already a staple in the wardrobes of famous fashion personalities and I’ve been watching them embrace the trend over the last few weeks, styling them with evening outfits and relaxed daytime looks alike.

Richie wore a gold chocker necklace with a bright red stone last week, adding a subtle pop of color to her otherwise all-black ensemble in the chicest way possible. A timeless accessory that fit Richie’s laid-back personality, the growing jewelry trend added a subtle touch of friction to her elegant evening look, creating an interesting ensemble that felt elevated yet effortless.

Another new fan of the up-and-coming accessory, I spotted Huntington-Whiteley wearing a stone pendant necklace, a white turtleneck top, and horseshoe jeans in Spain last week. Draping her long pendant necklace over her white top, the model’s necklace added an interesting accent to her outfit without overwhelming her look.

Available in a wide range of colors, cuts and sizes, each stone necklace is full of character. While I like to look for these gems in vintage shops and markets, there are also a number of compelling versions available from high street and designer brands.
