Former President Donald Trump said Friday that if re-elected, he would launch what he called “Operation Aurora” to target illegal immigrants in Colorado and across the country. He made the announcement at an afternoon rally at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora.

Aurora made national headlines in August when a viral video captured gunmen at The Edge at Lowry apartments. The news that a criminal gang had taken over buildings in Aurora made Aurora the starting point of the national debate about border security. These apartments are not near where Trump spoke on Friday.

“I will save Aurora and every city that has been invaded and conquered. These cities were conquered. Explain this to your governor; he has no idea that they have been conquered. And we will lock up these vicious and bloodthirsty criminals.” “We will either put them in prison or drive them out of our country,” Trump said.

After the speech, Gov. Jared Polis, who has been widely criticized by Trump, said: “Coloradans like me love Aurora, love Colorado and love the United States of America, and I am deeply disappointed that a candidate for the top spot will leave office.” Land is prepared to harm and attack the very people who would be his voters.”
