Police release a video showing Rep. Espaillat’s office being destroyed

Police released a video showing two people vandalizing Democratic Rep. Adriano Espaillat’s office in Manhattan on October 8.

The video shows a person taking a sledgehammer and shattering the glass facade of the office. Moments later, another person spray paints the front of the office.

Based on the language sprayed on the street, police believe this incident is now being investigated as a hate crime.

Council member Oswald Feliz posted a photo of the aftermath on X.

“Harassment, vandalism, and disruption of citizen services in marginalized communities do nothing to achieve this,” Feliz wrote in his post.

According to police, this is not the first time Espaillat’s office has been vandalized. On September 28, police said Espaillat’s office was attacked with the same motive.

Officers are asking the public for help in finding the two suspects.
