Texarkana Police Arrest Suspect in Domestic Kidnapping

On the evening of October 10, 2024, a domestic disturbance turned dangerous when Texarkana Arkansas Police Department officers responded to a sensitive situation in the 3000 block of Grand Avenue. Larry Jefferson, the suspect, was arrested and is now facing multiple charges after a series of alarming events.

Police were dispatched at approximately 5:38 p.m. following reports of a disturbance. According to witnesses at the scene, Jefferson had arrived at a house where his ex-girlfriend was visiting a male friend. Jefferson, who was reportedly looking for his ex, briefly left the scene but then returned with a black and gray handgun. Witnesses said he pointed the gun at the male friend, then pointed it at his ex-girlfriend and forced her into his vehicle before fleeing south on Grand Avenue in a gray SUV.

During the investigation, officers discovered a cell phone belonging to Jefferson in the grass. Meanwhile, the victim’s father was able to track down his daughter’s location using her cell phone, which led him near the airport. He received a call from his daughter who said Jefferson had let her out near the airport. Moments later he found her safe, but her ordeal wasn’t over yet.

The victim reported that after his release, Jefferson – now with another man in a gold Chevrolet pickup – circled the area and shot at her as he walked.

Officers quickly located Jefferson and found him in the gold truck outside the Orleans Apartments on East 24th Street. He was arrested without incident and charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault on a family or household member, aggravated assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle (2nd degree).

Texarkana Arkansas Police continue to investigate the incident.
