According to Valve, Steam Next Fest October 2024 begins on October 14th at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 6pm BST. At this exact time, you can expect a flood of demos on this site, all of which are available to download for free. All things must come to an end, and that includes the Steam Next Fest in October 2024. The event runs until October 21st at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 6pm BST. At this point is the event officially over, but experience has shown that it is not unusual for one or two demos to last a little longer. However, if you see something you want to try, I recommend you do so within the event period.

What is Steam Next Fest?

In case it wasn’t already clear, Steam Next Fest is a triennial event where developers release free demos for their games. We’re going into this in quite some detail here because the sheer volume of demos can honestly be overwhelming, and we want to help you filter it down into a more manageable selection of the ones you really shouldn’t miss.

The event also offers players the opportunity to chat with developers and watch live streams; It’s really just a big celebration of upcoming indie games. For their developers it’s a chance to get exposure and feedback from players, and for everyone else it’s free game demos! What more could you want?
