Hurricane Milton Recovery: What’s Open and What’s Closed?

As Central Florida begins cleanup and recovery from Hurricane Milton, airports, businesses and theme parks have begun reopening.

Are Florida airports open after Hurricane Milton?

  • Orlando International Airport fully opened on Friday morning, October 11th.
  • Daytona Beach International Airport is also open. The cell phone parking lot is closed due to down power lines.
  • Orlando Sanford International Airport opened Friday morning. Oct. 11
  • Tampa International Airport is open and operational.
  • Melbourne Orlando International Airport opened on Friday morning, October 11th.
  • St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport remains closed. “The airport is still assessing the damage and has not yet announced its reopening.”
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is open.
  • Miami International Airport is open.
  • Jacksonville International Airport is open.

Have Florida theme parks reopened after Hurricane Milton?

Walt Disney World

  • All four Walt Disney World theme parks, Disney Springs and miniature golf courses opened on Friday, October 11th.
  • Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are temporarily closed.
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park is scheduled to open on Saturday, October 12th. Blizzard Beach water park is closed for renovations
  • Theme park tickets partially used on October 10, 2024 will be automatically extended through October 11, 2025. Completely unused tickets impacted by Hurricane Milton may be reassigned to a new start date. Details here.

Universal Orlando

  • Universal Orlando reopened for normal operations on Friday, October 11th. Universal CityWalk also opened.
  • Halloween Horror Nights will take place as planned on Friday, October 11th.

SeaWorld Orlando

  • SeaWorld Orlando opened for regular operations on Friday, October 11th.
  • Spooktacular and Howl-O-Scream are canceled for Friday, October 11th but will resume on Saturday, October 12th.

Legoland Florida

  • Legoland Florida Theme Park and Water Park will be open for normal operations on Friday, October 11th.

More attractions in Florida

  • The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will open regular hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, according to its Facebook page.

When do Florida schools open after Hurricane Milton?

Brevard County Schools

  • There will be no classes for students on Monday, October 14th as it is a teacher work day/student holiday.
  • School will resume for students on Tuesday, October 15th.

Flagler County Public Schools

  • School operations begin on Monday, October 14th.

Lake County

  • School operations are expected to resume on Monday, October 14th.

Marion County Public Schools

  • School operations are expected to resume on Monday, October 14th.

Orange County Schools

  • There will be no classes for students on Monday, October 14th as it is a teacher work day/student holiday.
  • School will resume for students on Tuesday, October 15th.
  • A substitute school day is required for Friday, October 25th.

Osceola County

  • There will be no classes for students on Monday, October 14th as it is a teacher work day/student holiday.
  • School will resume for students on Tuesday, October 15th.
  • Hurricane catch-up dates will be discussed in the next two weeks.

Seminole County

  • There will be no classes for students on Monday, October 14th as it is a teacher work day/student holiday.
  • School operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, October 15th.

Sumter County

  • FOX 35 cannot confirm at this time. We contacted the district.

Volusia County Schools

  • There will be no classes for students on Monday, October 14th, as it is a teacher’s day/student holiday.
  • School will resume for students on Tuesday, October 15th.
