Manchester United now want to sign Amar Dedic in the winter

Manchester United had a difficult start to the new season under Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch coach has struggled to produce results after being backed by a solid transfer market from owners and his future could be in limbo.

However, that hasn’t stopped the Red Devils from being linked with a number of players as potential transfer targets for the future. One player on Manchester United’s radar, according to Team Talk, is versatile RB Salzburg defender Amar Dedic.

Dedic has a contract with the RB club until 2027. He is very adaptable in defense and can play as a right-back, left-back and central defender. This season he made 15 appearances across all competitions and provided three assists.

Diogo Dalot plays almost exclusively at left-back for Manchester United these days, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia constantly injured. This leaves Noussair Mazraoui as the only option for the right-back spot.

However, the Moroccan, who only signed for the club in the summer, underwent surgery as a precautionary measure for heart palpitations. Mazraoui is expected to return without any problems, but that raises concerns about squad strength.

The Austrian club is demanding a fee of around £23.4 million to sell the player. Signing Amar Dedic would give Manchester United the chance to kill three birds with one stone, considering he can play anywhere in defense and provide cover.

Only time will tell whether Manchester United will make any concrete efforts to sign Dedic. It could come down to how Shaw and Malacia return from injury and the Red Devils have until January to make a decision.
