What’s for dinner in Texas? [GALLERY]

What’s for dinner in Texas? [GALLERY]

So what’s cooking in the Lone Star State? I’ll show you right away.

Texas eats!

You may not think it’s such a big deal, but Texas food is special. It seems like you could buy the same ingredients and spices somewhere else and whip up some Texas favorites, but let me tell you, they just don’t taste the same. Also, please don’t think that this is about our specialties like chicken fried steak or Tex-Mex, but rather what average people make on an average day and want to share with us.

The Pix

You’re about to see some delicious simple and complex dishes from people who take dinner time seriously. From barbecue to enchiladas to sandwiches, everything is represented. I couldn’t help but see that some of these dishes look like they’re ready to be featured on the pages of Southern Living and/or served at a neighborhood restaurant.

The request

So the challenge was, “Show us a picture of something you cooked.” This simple question gave us a glimpse into the skills of some pretty talented home cooks. I have to say, even the sandwich (is that ready?) looks pretty much like the best sandwich I’ve ever seen in my life. All of this inspired me to improve my game. Even though I’m a pretty good cook, some of these people taught me a lot about presentation. Once that’s all done, prepare to get hungry, or at least get some ideas for “what’s for dinner?”
