Jenkins was named Preseason First-Team All-Conference – UTSA Athletics

IRVING, Texas – On Friday, the American Athletic Conference officially unveiled the 2024-25 Preseason All-Conference rosters, including the redshirt juniors Jordyn Jenkins Represented the UTSA women’s basketball program on the first team. Additionally, the Roadrunners placed fifth in the Preseason Coaches Poll with 96 votes.

The announcement comes ahead of American Basketball Media Day, which Jenkins junior will be attending Sidney Love and head coach Karen Aston as guests on a live ESPN+ broadcast available for viewing Here.

Jenkins will add these awards to her trophy case, which also includes a 2023-24 All-AAC Preseason second-team selection and 2022-23 Conference USA Player and Newcomer of the Year honors. The award came after she averaged 17.1 PPG and 6.8 RPG with 15 steals and 13 blocks, despite only playing in the final 12 games of the season due to an offseason injury.

In her last full season, Jenkins averaged 20.6 PPG on 49.3% shooting and was the all-time leader in RPG at 7.5. The Renton, Washington native set the school record for points in a season with 659 points.

UTSA was ranked fifth in the preseason poll after finishing fourth in the AAC with a 10-8 league mark on the season. The ‘Runners reached the semifinals of the league tournament before earning an overall selection to the WNIT, marking the school’s first national postseason appearance since the 2008–09 season. UTSA then made history on March 21 with an 80-62 win over Northern Colorado at the Convocation Center, marking the program’s first postseason win.

South Florida was picked as the favorite with 135 points and eight first-place votes, while North Texas and Rice each scored 124 points, with three picking the Mean Green first and two picking the Owls first. Just ahead of UTSA, Tulsa was in fourth place with 98 points, while East Carolina (91), Memphis (84), Temple (78), UAB (55) and Tulane (40) rounded out the top 10. Charlotte (38) was ranked 11th, Wichita State (32) was ranked 12th and Florida Atlantic (19) was ranked 13th.
