GEORGETOWN, MASS. (WHDH) – Emergency crews responded Friday after a gas leak was detected at Georgetown Middle High School, the Georgetown Fire Department said.

The fire department said in a post on Facebook around 11:30 a.m. that the school had been evacuated and all classes for the day had been canceled.

SKY7-HD was over the scene as some people continued to evacuate the school. Several firefighters were seen around the school as cars streamed through the parking lot.

According to the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Georgetown Middle High School enrolls 478 students in seventh through twelfth grades.
