“Reviewed to Death” premieres at the Cummins-Phipps-Grill House for the first time since 2003

Attention all mystery fans!

The play “Reviewed To Death” returns to Eden Prairie for the first time in 21 years on October 18th, with additional performances on October 19th and 25th. The Eden Prairie Players and the Eden Prairie Historical Society have teamed up to stage the production at the Cummins-Phipps-Grill House.

The script was written specifically for the Cummins-Phipps-Grill House. Written by Kiernon James, the production was performed at the Cummins-Phipps-Grill House in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and once in Barrett, Minnesota.

Although the production is sold out for the 2024 season, ticket holders will have many opportunities to interact with the cast.

Jen Cordes, director of the Eden Prairie Players production, said, “The premise of the play is that it is a fundraising gala celebrating the grand opening of a restored historic home. And there are well-known locals, famous guests of honor who take part in this gala.”

The historic home in the production is the fictional RJ Collin Historic House in the town of Lawrence. The house is based on the Cummins-Phipps-Grill House, which was built in 1856.

The events depicted in the production, a thank you dinner and a gala, are both fictional. Both are set in the present, before the mayoral election.

For those who purchased a $30 ticket, the event will include a dinner provided by Yum! contain. Kitchen and bakery.

This is the first time that Jen Cordes and this particular cast have been involved in the production. The characters are: Audrey Doyle, the chatty town librarian, portrayed by Shantelia Sauer-Dunn; Charles Douglas Logan, the suave banker played by Rick Myer; Mayor William Chandley, the bumbling politician portrayed by David Durkee; Rebecca Cartwright, the sarcastic journalist portrayed by Ellen Engelson; Edna Wallace, the maid with a terrible temper, portrayed by Gina Light; and Lynnette Stiles, a crime writer portrayed by Jacqueline Schluter Johnson. The stage manager is Debbie Bodell.
