David F Sandbergthe director behind both Shazam! Films and horror film hit Light offhas just finished filming his latest project titled Until dawnan adaptation of the horror video game phenomenon of the same name. Developed by Supermassive Games, the interactive horror drama follows eight friends as they try to survive the night on a remote mountain with a murderer. Modeled on a slasher film, Until dawn uses horror movie conventions with the added concern of leaving the decisions up to the player.

After its release in 2015, the game quickly gained a large fan base. Players were impressed by the slasher game’s use of the butterfly effect system, where every decision a player makes affects the outcome of the story, including who lives and who dies. However, we’re not entirely sure how this unique element will translate to the live-action adaptation.

Sandberg is finally ready to bring the beloved game’s story about the young adults fighting for survival on Blackwood Mountain to the big screen. Filming for Until dawn wrapped up this month, and Sandberg recently shared a celebratory bloody mirror selfie on Instagram. Who will make it until dawn?

Now that the cast and crew have partied until dawn, the only question that remains is which of the characters will survive the night? The confirmed cast includes Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo and Odessa A’zion, but it is unclear who each actor will play. The inclusion of the butterfly effect is also unspecified, but since it is an essential element of the game’s plot, it will certainly be mentioned in one way or another. However, audiences may have to wait until the film’s release to get answers.
